Jerry Langone was already working in the New Source warehouse in California when an opportunity to work on a valuable contract arose in their Florida location. Business was expanding, so New Source looked to its strongest performers to support its growth there. They immediately considered Langone because of his determination, work ethic, and communication skills.
“Every time we spoke, I was impressed with our conversation and his insight on things. I thought this was someone who strives for greatness and could be of great benefit to the company—mutual growth for us all,” said Jamie Barron, Vice President at New Source Corporation.
When Langone’s manager recommended him for the position, the question wasn’t whether he was qualified, but whether he’d be willing to make the move from California to Florida. Moving across the country was a big decision, but Langone says it was worth it. He was promoted from his shipping and logistics position to Contract Administrator for one of New Source’s largest-volume programs.
Attentive to Every Customer Relationship
Langone now coordinates major defense company requests on a daily basis. He receives orders from the customer’s database and transfers them to the New Source System. The New Source team then generates the orders, with Langone managing client communication and order details. He works alongside the New Source warehouse team to make sure they have what they need to fulfill the orders. Langone says he’s essentially a “liaison” between the customer and the company, explaining, “It’s a lot of back and forth, making sure everything meets the quality requirements necessary.”
With 200 orders a week, he has to pay close attention to detail to ensure every order is fulfilled and shipped accurately. This is especially important because all materials are custom cut to size for just-in-time contracts, meaning orders are filled as needed, and there’s no margin for error.
As Langone explains, building strong customer relationships is “critical in making sure that this whole operation runs as smoothly as possible.”
Leading a Strong Supply Team
The move across roles and states has been rewarding for both Langone and New Source. He enjoys the work, and he fits into his new team right away. He not only works with customer teams but also manages an internal team.

Langone’s goals for the future are simple: to improve every day and continue to grow within the company. Discipline is essential to that improvement for him, both inside and outside of work. “I take a lot of pride in my workout regimen, and I feel like that correlates closely to what we do here at work because it deals a lot with discipline and progress.”
It’s also important to Langone to inspire others to work hard and go after their goals. “Something my father used to tell me, and he still does, is that it’s not where you start—it’s where you end up.”
